Executive Headteacher’s Message

May I wish you a very warm welcome to AMCS new newsletter! It has been a busy summer. We were very pleased with our Year 6 pupils who made excellent progress in Reading and showed resilience whilst sitting their SAT. We wish them good luck in Year 7. Our Year 11s showed that, despite the impact of the pandemic and return to pre-pandemic levels of exam grade thresholds, they were able to achieve GCSE and vocational grades for which they can be proud. We were successful in making the transition to joining The Dean Trust family of schools: we look forward to improvements in standards, learning, outcomes and environment. And finally, we have made a fantastic start to the new academic year, with our pupils arriving to school physically and mentally ‘ready to learn’. As part of our transition to The Dean Trust, I am very proud to announce that I will remain as Executive Headteacher for Abraham Moss Community School. I am also proud to announce that Mrs Josette Arnold will lead the school on a day-to-day basis as ‘Head of School’. Those in our community who have met Mrs Arnold will no doubt have been impressed by her passion for our pupils and the community. Mrs Arnold and our team of dedicated staff are committed to embedding the highest standards and expectations so our children can thrive and succeed in their academic and social development. Headteacher Message

Welcome to our first Newsletter of the academic year 2023-2024. As Head of the School and Head of the Primary, we are Delighted to welcome you as part of the Dean Trust family of schools. We would like to thank you all for your support; it was a great start to the year. Pupils looked very smart in their new uniform and fully prepared for the new academic year ahead. We would like to officially welcome our new Nursery, Reception and Year 7 cohorts. All made an excellent start and we look forward to working in partnership with their families over the coming years. This week, we launched the Dean Trust Behaviour Hub programme in the Secondary phase and Primary phase will join this programme in the coming weeks. A key strategy is ‘Ready to Learn/Ready to Leave’ and it has been exciting to see our staff and pupils embracing this across the school at the start and end of every lesson. We will be communicating fortnightly with you via this Newsletter; it is an opportunity for us to share with you the fabulous work that goes on in our school as well as giving you key dates and information.
