We had a very rewarding week last week here at Abraham Moss with pupils, staff, parents and the community coming together to raise funds to support the Médecins sans Frontières charity. Feedback from our parents includes wanting more opportunities to meet at the school to support charities and have a chance to meet other members of the local community. We are now looking to organise similar opportunities for the rest of the academic year and will give you more details about this shortly. We are delighted to share with you in this newsletter the wide range of opportunities pupils have taken advantage of this week. From reward trips, to cookery club, to participating in sporting fixtures and supporting local charity- just a flavour of the many ways our pupils are supported to develop into confident, successful and responsible adults who are able to play an active part in our society. This week, we celebrated the successes of our Year Class of 2023. It was wonderful to see so many of them back in the school building for a final farewell. During this event, we also had a fantastic performance from very own Year 10 vocalist Natasha who sang “Read all about it” by Emili Sandé. We have also been raising awareness during Anti- bullying week. The theme is ‘Make A Noise About Bullying’. We had a super start to the week, in the primary, on Monday pupils wore odd socks to school. Wearing odd socks is an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! Anti-Bullying Week gives us the opportunities to have discussions about what bullying means to us, how banter can turn into something more hurtful, and what we can do to stop bullying. Pupils have been learning that together they can make a difference and take a stand against bullying. We have also been involved with several sporting events this week. The year 6 girls attended the Girls Football League at Manchester Co-op Academy and other Y6 pupils represented the school during a sports hall athletics competition. They showed grit, determination and a great sense of pride and played some brilliant football. We are so proud of watching them develop as a team and as individuals! Finally, we are excited to share the news with you about the development of a brand-new library in the primary phase. Pupils are very excited and full of wonderful ideas about the use of this new space. They are busy putting their skills to work as they order and arrange the books.
