Firstly, we would like to start by thanking all parents in Reception and Year 1 who were able to come along and see your child’s fantastic art work at our recent, amazing Art Exhibition. It was a huge success and we hope to have more Art Exhibitions for other year groups throughout the year. We would also like to let you know that we have been working closely with Year 5 & 6 children to help them understand the importance of being kind to their peers, to ensure racism does not happen, the impact of racism and who children should go to for support. The children worked brilliantly in the workshops; they worked in groups of four, sharing their experiences, knowledge and ideas for tackling racism. As you know, pupils being in school is important to their achievement, wellbeing, personal and social development so every moment a child is in school counts and days missed add up quickly. This is why we are always looking at improving attendance and punctuality for our pupils. Most of you will probably have already met Mrs Simumba, our Attendance Officer on the primary site, and Mrs Turner our Attendance Officer on the secondary site. Please contact Mrs Simumba or Mrs Turner if you need any support with attendance or punctuality. This week, in the secondary part of the school, we delivered assemblies and tutor materials around the theme of Knife Crime; it was reassuring to see our pupils showing a mature approach when listening about and discussing this important theme. We were also proud to receive the Pupil Council ‘s meeting minutes. This term, the council’s representatives have been discussing Identity and what it means to be an Abraham Moss pupil growing up in the local surrounding area. Pupils have made very mature suggestions to improve their experience of growing up in the local area and a few of these have already been approved- watch this space!
