Headteacher Message

As we come to the end of a cold, wet and windy fortnight, we would like to thank our pupils for their sensible behaviour, particularly during the snow we experienced last week. We can trust our pupils to be careful and so many pupils chose to enjoy time on the astroturf at break and lunch, taking part in good natured snowball games. Health and safety are paramount in such conditions and we would also like to thank the site team for helping to ensure the school grounds were well gritted and as safe as possible.  For the next 20 weeks, we will be having some work completed on the school premises and we rely on our pupils behaving sensibly around the building to ensure that they are kept safe.  In the Primary, the children really enjoyed playing in the snow and had fun building snowmen. In the secondary and primary phases, we have had a focus on punctuality to school and lessons.  Please support us by reinforcing with your children in secondary that they must be in school by 8.28 am to avoid being late.  For Primary children, the gates open at 8.30 am and close at 8.40 am.  You may have noticed the large clock at the front of the school- this clock was purchased to support pupils with their punctuality so the time is clearly visible to them.  Punctuality has significantly improved but we still need to work together to improve it. To celebrate Chinese New Year, all Primary children experienced a Chinese Dragon Dance workshop and got to perform around the school.  Thank you to all the Year 1 parents who came to watch their children perform the Chinese Dragon Dance. Finally, we can thank all the parents/carers and pupils who attended our Year 11 Parents Evening and Year 6 SATS. It was an absolute pleasure to see you and we thank you for your support for our school community. We hope you found the information from staff to be informative in advance of the Year 11 Dean Trust mock examinations and Year 6 SATS mocks which are starting next week in the lead up to the formal examinations.
