Headteacher Message

Mrs. Josette Arnold & Mrs. Faye Bond

Dear Parent/Carer, Welcome back to the second half of the autumn term; we hope that you are well and the half term break was restful. We continue with our commitment to keep improving the school and the Senior Team in the secondary phase have been visiting lessons across the week, hearing from our pupils about the progress they are making in their different subject areas. Please continue our work by asking your children at home what precisely they are learning in each subject? and how their learning in one subject can be used in their other subjects or in life outside of school/in the future? In the Primary we hosted our first parental workshop to support our parents with English language development. It was a great start to the programme and I look forward to the next session. The kitchen in the primary phase have helped year 4 bring their learning to life this week by creating a pizza workshop to support their instructions writing unit ‘How to make Pizza’. All year 4 pupils participated in pizza making and tasting; apparently it tasted better than Pizza Express! On Thursday night, the school hosted a careers event for years 10 and 11 pupils and parents, with representatives of post 16 pathways. It was well attended and thank you for the positive comments some of you shared with us regarding the event and the quality of information available on the night. This week, we have been delivering assemblies to pupils in the primary and secondary phase about firework safety and about how pupils can enjoy Bonfire Night without putting themselves or others at risk. I hope you are able to enjoy the celebrations safely as a family on Monday night. Lastly, please be aware that from Monday 6th November, access to the school’s car park will be restricted to staff and school visitors only. This is a safeguarding measure to keep our pupils and staff safe. Can we also ask that when dropping or picking you children up, we are mindful of all the members of our community. With kind regards Mrs. J Arnold & Mrs. F Bond
